You Have Bought a New Mobile Phone and It Has Stopped Working

You have bought a new mobile phone and in a few days of purchase, it has stopped working. You have spoken to the company representative a week ago, but it has still not been repaired.

Write a letter to the company. In your letter,

  • introduce yourself
  • explain the situation
  • say what action you would like the company to take

Write at least 150 words.

You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:

You may not be aware, but I am a customer who came into your shop two weeks ago to purchase a new phone.

Unfortunately, it developed a fault the following day, in that the screen went blank and I was unable to turn it back on again, or indeed get any response from it whatever.

As we have had a hard frost recently, I initially wondered if this had been the cause, so when I returned home, I charged the battery for six hours. However, there was still no response.

I then studied the manual, and followed the procedures described in it. Still without any luck in solving the problem.

My next step was to contact the salesman at your shop who had dealt with me when I bought the phone. The day after (a week ago now) I telephoned him and gave him the same information I have relayed to you above. He promised to follow this up, but has so far not contacted me by either phone or email. The salesman in question is Peter.

Attached is a copy of the receipt, number 1234 dated 14th January 2018.

Could you please escalate this matter for me and either replace the phone as soon as possible or arrange for a complete refund to my credit card.
